AC Monza GM Galliani: I will be staying

AC Monza GM Adriano Galliani says he has no retirement plans.

Instead, the former AC Milan vice-president is planning long-term with the Serie A minnows.

He said, "If there is one thing that (Silvio) Berlusconi taught me not to place limits on the desire to do better. I have always worked to satisfy his desires, which were also mine. I will do it this time too.

"A year ago Monza was supposed to play its first season in Serie A, after 110 years of history of our club. It was a historic page, which deserved all my commitment and attention. If I had run again for the Senate I would have been a bad parliamentarian and a bad sports manager. With Berlusconi we had achieved the miracle of taking Monza from C to A and we certainly didn't want to frustrate it.

"Now the team has more experience and the club is better structured. Of course I will continue to deal with it, but now I think I am able to reconcile two great passions, sport and commitment to the community. After all, I couldn't say no to the honor of representing my land, the land where I was born and lived, and to the honor of running for the college that it was Silvio Berlusconi's, ideally completing the journey of a whole life at his side."
