Mason Mount nets hat-trick in demolition of Norwich
Cobham academy graduate Mason Mount netted the first Premier League hat-trick of his fledgling Chelsea career as his side ran out 7-0 winners over a shambolic Norwich City outfit.
Opening the scoring in the seventh minute with a smart finish from outside the area, Mount added a second when he fired a penalty past Tim Krul at the second time of asking.
The Norwich stopper saved the first attempt, but it was required to be retaken after the Canaries ‘keeper was adjudged to have been off his line when the ball was struck, therefore gaining an advantage.
As the East Anglian outfit continued to fall apart, there was just time for Mount to tap in a third, and Chelsea’s seventh of the afternoon, after Ruben Loftus-Cheek squared the ball to him six yards out.
Latest on his contract revealed
Chelsea through and through, Mount’s contract nonetheless will have just two years left to run come next summer, with Chelsea surely keen to tie down their star man to a new long term deal in the near future.
And that is precisely the intention, as per reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims Chelsea view the attacker as “untouchable”.
Meanwhile, a new contract will be “discussed soon”, but “it will take some time”, no doubt because the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are all currently locked in negotiations with their deals expiring this summer.
For Mount, staying with Chelsea will likely be his only goal, and if he continues to perform, he will remain in the team for the next decade.

1. How I love having Mount in this Chelsea have missed him in that Number 8 role. Having him back with three goals and an assist, Chelsea team is taking a good shape. 2. Kovacic ran the show in midfield. He started most of our attacking moves with his runs and incredible passing accuracy. It was great to see Jorginho attempting long passes from deep. 3. CHELSEA started strong and from Tuchel's reaction early on, you can tell he wanted the game put to bed as early as possible. Chelsea did just that with three goals in the first half. Chelsea need to approach games like this. 4. The second half saw Chelsea play with a high intensity. I saw Chilwell making some great runs into the box. He is proving to be a goal threat from that left hand side with three goals in three consecutive EPL games. Good competition in that position. 5. CHELSEA defence was assured as always. Mendy had little to do but when he was called upon, he ensured we maintained a clean sheet with his well-timed block. 6. It was always going to be tough for Norwich especially as CHELSEA put up a top display. It was an emphatic victory without our strikers. Still top. Catch CHELSEA if you can.
