Arsenal are confident Monchi will join them as technical director after he left Roma on Friday.
The Gunners were prepared to pay a £1million release clause for Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, known as Monchi, but he parted company with the Italian club on Friday after less than two years as their sports director.
Arsenal have offered Monchi a three-year-deal and hope he can start as soon as possible, despite late interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
The 50-year-old made his name at Sevilla, where he worked with Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
While at Sevilla Monchi scouted numerous profitable bargains, including Dani Alves, Seydou Keita and Ivan Rakitic.
Sven Mislintat left his position as Arsenal's head of recruitment last month after just over a year in the job.

Coming from an Inter fan, swapping Nainggolan for Zaniolo and cash was the best trade deal in history of trade deals, ever. A true successor to the Cannavaro-Carini swap.

It was the right decision to sell Alisson and Nainggolan. Did he get the funds to buy the players he wanted?

Just want to correct you for public knowledge, Stan Kroenke is the only PL owner ever to not invest a penny in his club Well...

I mean you have to look at this guys whole career not just the last 1.5 years Plus he has an understanding with emery and arsenal have a lot more pull than roma Quietly optimistic it just might work

Not a good signing if Arsenal have ambitions to win the league or even finish Top 3

You also have to look at Roma's pulling power. Good club, but the Premier League has more of an impact for a start. We're still in the frame of young players growing up watching a great Arsenal side too, and Emery is just better than EdF. I'll see how it goes.

so I guess he could either be sevilla's monchi or roma's monchi. If things don't work out they can always kick him Well he ruined Romas squad, so kicking him might be too late

Monchi doesn't sell expensive veterans. He'll sell your talented, young players and replace them with injury prone veterans alla Pastore.

Monchi? Is he embarking on a youth development programme? I'm not interested in his credentials. If Kroenke isn't ready to spend big there's no miracle any one can do to stop Arsenal's drift.
