Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is being investigated for his explicit gesture against Juventus, while the Bianconeri could be punished for a late start.
UEFA confirmed on Monday that disciplinary proceedings had been opened against Atleti for blocked stairways at Wanda Metropolitano, throwing of objects and improper conduct, relating to his crotch-grab celebration after his side took the lead last week.
Its statement added Juve were also being probed for a late kick-off during their 2-0 defeat to the Spaniards, as was Coach Max Allegri.
However, Simeone may avoid a touchline ban for the trip to Turin on March 12 as UEFA failed to confirm when its Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body would deal with the case.
The former Inter and Lazio midfielder caused controversy with his celebration after Atleti had gone a goal up in their Champions League last-16 first leg, turning towards the fans at the Metropolitano and grabbing his crotch.
Although he insisted the gesture ‘came from his heart’, many viewed it as a protest towards VAR, which penalised his side twice.

1. EUFA rule was violated by Ramos last season when he came down to the staff as a suspended player during the Semi final clash against Juve and EUFA is yet to punish him for that. 2. Buffon challenged the referee after the penalty given against them as a captain and was given a red card which should have been enough punishment but after the UCL competition was over, he again received a ban following that same action he took red card for! 3. Ramos again took an intentional unnecessary yellow card against Ajax in the first leg which was intended to clear his suspension risk in the quarter final. EUFA said they were making an investigation about that and they are yet to bring us an answer till now. 4. The same EUFA defended Real Madrid when Ajax goal was denied. Even the fans of Madrid and the players were not sure why the goal was disallowed. Some were arguing saying it’s an Offside until EUFA made it clear that the keeper was interrupted by a player. 5. Now Simeone is being punished for what he did which was wrong. Am asking is it that the EUFA laws only works when it’s been violated by other teams except Madrid? It’s unfair if EUFA doesn’t treat everyone equally. WHO ELSE NOTICED THIS? Thumbs up if you believe this is true!!!
