Bayern Munich have released an official statement, questioning Germany coach Joachim Low's decision to drop Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng & Mats Hummels from the national team.
Low has indicated he will not select Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng - who have 246 caps between them - for future games, summarily retiring the trio.
The decision comes with the national team boss ready to move on to a new generation, saying: “This is the year for our new beginning.”
But the timing of it - ahead of key Bundesliga and Champions League games - and finality of the treatment of the three 2014 World Cup winners on a surprise visit to the training ground, has annoyed their club.
The statement reads:
Joachim Low has decided not to consider our players Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng in the future. Basically, we do not comment on sporting decisions of the national coach, the nomination of the national team squad is solely the responsibility of Low.
However, we believe the timing and circumstances of the announcement of this decision to the players and the public is questionable. The last international match of Germany took place on 19 November 2018.
The fact that the players and the public were informed about three months later, just ahead of our two important matches - the game against Wolfsburg in the title race of the Bundesliga and a few days before the decisive return match against Liverpool in the second leg of Champions League round of 16 next Wednesday, irritates us.
In addition, we were surprised that this was done yesterday during an unannounced visit.
Thomas Muller (100 caps) Mats Hummels (70) and Jerome Boateng (76) have completed 246 games for the national team, they have had an extremely successful decade with Germany coined by winning the world cup in 2014 as absolute highlight.
FC Bayern have great respect for the sporting merits of Thomas, Mats and Jerome with the national team and German football.

Boateng,Hummels and Muller nowadays dont perform well as they use to.Its a good decision for the coach not to include this trio because they are underperforming currently.

If any one has to be dropped from the German national team it must be Low himself.

Low is the coach so he definitely has the right to do whatever he wants for the success of his team unless you guys want your players to start doing Kepa

It's political. You have to drop some players & cannot be taking the same players who fared badly in Russia. Besides, there is abundance of talent in the league

I think it’s a considerable decision for low, he has been Germany’s manager for so many years so he knows how to get the best out of young talents and he’s used to giving young talents opportunities.

I think he should keep them as jokers in national team. With there history and experience they can teach the youngsters too.

it's fantastic determination of changed some oldest players and it is too delayed to decide it by the team as you see the club is going to down with their low performances. Meanwhile it's great and welcomed

I have no problem with the coach dropping his players but I have a problem with the way he did it he should have allowed them to announce it themselves for me it's disrespectful

The point is the timing of this announcement was absolutely wrong. It will affect these three players performance in near days (champions league and bundesliga race). And the opponent team will gain additional courage with the presence of these upset players in bayern match. In my opinion they are not in the best form but they are not that bad to disallowed in international games. Atleast they have experience and better to keep as subs. I’m sure they will play important in perfect time.

I can understand the dropping of Boaten and Muller, but not Hummels think he still has a lot to offer. Boaten has gotten slow and dosen't read the game aswell as he uses too. Muller's goal production has dropped significantly.
