Poland Under-21 defender Krystian Bielk has confirmed that Milan tried to sign him before he joined Derby County.
It was reported over the summer that Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis was hoping to use his Arsenal connections to land Bielik.
However, the versatile 21-year-old ended up moving to EFL Championship side Derby in a £7m (€7.8m) deal.
“I was hoping to get an opportunity with Unai Emery,” he told Sportowe Fakty.
“Instead, I didn’t fit into his plans and so I had to leave.
“Before the European Under-21 Championship, I received an offer from Milan, but then everything changed and nothing more was done.”

I get that wolves are now more attractive than Milan( Patrick Cultrone) but I would never think that they are less attractive than derby country. No offense derby

Annoying as I think he’ll be a top player.

With Arsenals current budget, this was necessary to buy Tierney + a Cb.

Was my favourite Derby player right up until today. He failed a medical at Oxford. I'm finally ready to let go. Maybe he’ll come back...right? RIGHT?!

He mainly played CDM last year but can also play CB. He isn't PL ready as a CB and won't be for a few years.

We are ambitious now, we can't try our luck with an unproven talent like him. Getting a £10m for a player that played in League 1 is good. We will use it to try and finish Tierney, and hopefully that will allow us to have enough money to get a good CB too.

The people who wanted him to play were jumping the gun a fair bit given the meltdown over our collapse at the end of the season and just wanted all their youth to play and sell near enough the entire starting 11. In reality he was very good for a League 1 team and the Poland U21s but wouldn't have made it here so it was best to move him on while his stock was relatively high from recent performances.

Di Marzio throwing our name in every deal, should be demoted to Tier 3 imho

Not sure how Di Marzio knows anything about an English club transferring a Polish player to the Championship

You will keep selling defenders and buying attackers

Yh true but surely our management have realised our attack is stacked so we're probably going for defenders now we bought Pepe because our wingers were dire.

Several Italian clubs were also after him and were in pole position under Derby offered the most money.

I haven't even seen any realistic CB options floating around since Andersen tbh. I'm hopeful but even with this Pepe madness, still pessimistic about the CB.

We have been linked to Rugani, and I'm not worried to be honest. This board is competent. I believe that Edu, Raul and Vinai will get us a good CB.

In this phrase, Derby are the team 'gazumping' Milan (though I know it's not exactly what happened, just a fun turn of phrase), and so they have become 'Milan Gazumpers' if you will.

Gazumping is a term that vaguely means 'to describe when a financial deal changes hands late in the negotiation'. Typically, it's used in home marketing when a homeowner expects to purchase a new house, only for another, higher, offer to be accepted at the last minute.
