Former Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove says he's ready to return to action.

After collapsing on the pitch last season while on-loan with Fiorentina, Bove says he is now ready to resume his pro career.

Bove suffered a heart attack against Inter Milan in December last season.

He told Il Corriere dello Sport today: "I'm coming back.

"A few more check-ups and we'll decide how, where, and when to return. I'm calm."

Bove says he's been in regular contact with former Manchester United and Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen, who recovered successfully from suffering a cardiac arrest when playing for Denmark at the Euros in 2021.

"More than once, in the early days and also in the summer. We have something in common, even though we don't know each other personally. I feel close to him and I'm happy he's found another team...," said Bove, referring to Eriksen's move to VfL Wolfsburg.

"You also must know that in the summer I heard from (Jose) Mourinho, my footballing dad. He got in touch right away, in December, with my dad who adores him."

Mourinho, now in charge of Benfica, gave Bove his big chance of senior football while coach of Roma.
