Fabio Cannavaro has joined the fight against the coronavirus by donating 30,000 masks to a hospital in his native Naples.
The coach of Guangzhou Evergrande, who began his career at Napoli, felt obliged to help his home city.
"I don't like to talk about these things. It is correct that people like me are the first to help," Cannavaro told Italian media.
"It is something that has affected me a lot and it is a way of showing my closeness to my people.
"I don't like to speak publicly about this. I hope that [the donation] will be useful," he said.
Cannavaro is in the final stages of his 15-day quarantine in China after having spent 20 days in Dubai, and will complete his enforced period of isolation on Friday.
"This Friday I will complete two weeks of quarantine and I will be able to leave," he stated.
"I had another test and it came out negative.
"It will be a good feeling to go for a walk and see the bars open," said the 2006 World Cup and Ballon d'Or winner.
