Hugo Sanchez won four Pichichi awards in a row during the 1980s.
The first one came while he was playing for Atletico Madrid and the following three came when he was wearing the white of Real Madrid.
However, the 1988/89 season saw Baltazar take his crown and Sanchez didn't like that, not one bit.
"Hugo Sanchez goes after Zarra's record," read many of the newspaper headlines ahead of the following season as the Mexican aimed to beat Telmo Zarra's record 38 goals in one season.
Zarra's record still stands, but it's shared with Sanchez, who managed to reach the 38 mark during that very campaign.
What's even more remarkable about those 38 goals is that every single one of them was a first-touch finish.
Sanchez also boasted a wide range of finishes, from bicycle kicks and freekicks to headers and even a chested goal.
That record went right to the line too, with the Mexican scoring a hat-trick on the final day against Real Oviedo to bring his tally up to 38.
"Hugo is now a myth," read the MARCA headline that day on May 6 1990.
Cristiano Ronaldo now holds the record for LaLiga goals in one season with the 48 he scored during the 2014/15 season.

Now when we hear 38 goals in one season I seems very simple but we should remeber that they were the players who first made records MY RESPECT

read properly they are saying 38 goals from 38 touches.
They're saying Ronaldo holds the highest goal per season record with his 48 goals in 2012, and they are wrong because Messi scored 50 that year, and moreover, it was 46 goals that Ronaldo score not 48.

Yup!! it was season 2011/12 LaLiga . ..
You should read properly. The part about Ronaldo is not talking about 38 touches but the highest goal tally per season and that record is even wrong because it's Messi who has the highest tally per season (50 goals)

I have forgotten which season but Messi once scored 50 La Liga goals in a season. So to say the record belongs to Cr7 is a mistake by AF.
you are correct. the records now belongs to Messi with 50 goals in a league season.

Which clarification do you want again bro, they're talking about Pichichi which is award giving to top goals scorer in laliga and Hugo Sanchez did that four (4) in a row. amazingly he did score those 38 goals in just 38 touches. great work Sanchez..

Indeed it's very true. That's why they say CR7 knows how to handle critics. He's been scoring in El Classicos at Camp Nou, no wonder the stadium is always quiet whenever he's around.....
