Chelsea given Chiesa transfer chance after 'top club' claim and offer rejected

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa this summer and the Blues have received a boost after Juventus' transfer stance emerges

Chelsea have received a boost from Juventus over reported target Federico Chiesa.

The Italian winger was the star of Turin during his first year at the club but his impact has since been lessened through injury. Chiesa was sidelined for 10 months before returning in November, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 games, but has struggled to recapture his best form under Juve boss Max Allegri.

Chiesa, 25, has two years remaining on his contract and has been tentatively linked with a switch to Liverpool this summer. However, reports have also touted Chiesa as a target for Mauricio Pochettino's side and Juventus’ stance could clear the way for the  Blues  to make a move for the Italy forward.

Reports have suggested that Chelsea are planning to step up their efforts to sign the Juventus attacker, with the club described as the 'most interested' in Chiesa. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has fuelled the idea that the player could soon be on the move after explaining Juventus' stance on a potential deal.

Di Marzio outlined that both Chiesa and Juventus teammate Dusan Vlahovic are essentially 'on the market', with the Italian giant open to offers. However, Chiesa is claimed to have made his ambitions clear after turning down a possible move, which could work in Chelsea’s favour.

"Aston Villa have bid €60million (£51.2million) for Chiesa but he hasn't even listened to the offer as he doesn't want to join Aston Villa," Di Marzio told  Wett Freunde. "He only wants to play at top clubs."

Villa may have qualified for European football last season but Chelsea will hope to get back on track under new boss Pochettino. The Blues have already brought in Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson but could look to bring in another winger after selling Christian Pulisic to AC Milan.
