Former Paraguay goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert, who peculiarly was a free-kick specialist, has named his five best players in the history of football, with Lionel Messi being named as the greatest of all time.
The current Barcelona and Argentina captain is often the subject of this debate, especially when compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, but Chilavert sees no competition for Messi.
"I would have liked to play at Barcelona and with Messi," Chilavert told TyC Sports.
"If you imagine, imagine freely. For me, Messi is the best footballer in history by far. He doesn't have a comparison."
Then, when asked where Diego Maradona would fall, Chilavert named his five best players of all time.
"Maradona? He's in the top five in history," he stated.
"If I had to rank them, Messi would be first, then [Alfredo] Di Stefano, Maradona, Pele and [Zinedine] Zidane."

Not surprise at all, everyone agrees to this fact; soccer legends,soccer experts, pundits,super computer except Ronaldo fans believe Messi is superior..How will never hear them compare Ronaldo to Pele or Ronaldo to Maradona because he doesn't possess the technical brilliance that Messi has. Ronaldo is just a goal scorer, period....but when you consider other dynamics of a complete finisher such as Ability to read games and effect transition rapidly, vision, assist,chances created, midfield prowess,free kicks conversion rate per kick,fair play, dribbles etc. Then you understand why Ronaldo is not when considered when Pele and Maradona is mentioned.
