Como to prioritize italian players this summer

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Como hopes to prioritize the signing of Italian players this summer, but the team is also looking to strengthen with players who meet squad registration requirements.

Although club president Mirwan Suwarso and sporting director Carlalberto Ludi recently stated that nationality would not be a core factor in evaluating new signings, Como does need to increase the number of eligible Italian players in its squad. The problem stems from Serie A and UEFA squad rules: while slightly different, both sets of rules require at least four club-trained players and four association-trained players within a 25-player "senior" squad, otherwise the squad will be "shortened," which would create greater difficulties for Fabregas.

This is not just a matter of Italian players. Take Tresoldi, for example, who has recently been linked with Como; he is not suitable from this perspective: nationality aside – this forward is likely to play for Germany, but he does hold Italian citizenship – he did not develop within the Italian club youth system. Other options are completely different.

Mattia Liberali is the most suitable candidate. This young midfielder rose to prominence at Catanzaro, and his contract includes a €6 million release clause, perfectly meeting Como's needs. He is Italian, grew up in Italy, is very young, and possesses outstanding technical attributes. This detail is not minor, as Fabregas and Como management have often said in the past that their preference for seeking players abroad was due to the difficulty of finding players in Italy who are not "just tactical." Among other names, Antonio Vergara also fits Como's needs and may leave Napoli. In recent weeks, Como has also been linked with more experienced players such as L.Pellegrini and Pirola; previously, Nicolò Cambiaghi of Bologna and Pietro Comuzzo of Fiorentina were rumored. Tarik Muharemovic is also on the list: returning to the squad issue above, this Bosnian player – who also has a market in the Premier League – can also help the team fill out its squad, as he developed at Juventus between the ages of 18 and 21.
