Cristiano Ronaldo gave an answer to Simeone

When Argentina suffered a heavy defeat against Croatia in last summer's World Cup, Diego Simeone drew comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

An audio of the Atletico Madrid boss speaking to Mono Burgos leaked, in which he pondered which of the two he'd rather have in his team.

"Messi is very good, but he's surrounded by extraordinary players," Simeone said.

"If you had to choose between Messi and Ronaldo for a normal team, who would you choose?"

On Tuesday evening, Cristiano answered Simeone's question by scoring a hat-trick to send them packing from the Champions League.

Having now seen what he can still do, it's clear what Simeone was talking about. His hat-trick rounded off a top performance on a historical night for Juve and European football.

"Juventus signed me for this," the No.7 stated to Sky Sport Italia afterwards.

He has dragged the Old Lady into the quarter-finals, kept their dream of winning the competition alive and has already become a leader in Turin.

The dream continues

Juventus have lost in two recent Champions League finals and one of those was at the hands of Cristiano. Barcelona beat them in 2014/15, while Ronaldo's Real Madrid came out on top in 2016/17.

Before Tuesday Cristiano had just one goal in this season's competition, but now that the business end has come, Cristiano has shown up.

There are still two knockout rounds to come before the final, but with the Portuguese on form, Juventus are predicting success.
