Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne is set for his final Premier League minutes this weekend as the Belgium midfielder considers where to take the next steps in his career

Kevin De Bruyne is down to two options as he decides where to take his next step in his career after leaving Manchester City. The Premier League legend is set to play in his last game for the club on Sunday as his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Citizens have opted not to renew his deal as they look to replenish their side after a disappointing season saw them fail to compete to retain their Premier League title. And after 108 goals and 177 assists in 421 appearances for City, De Bruyne will start next term with a new team.

Napoli, under the management of Antonio Conte, have established themselves as the prime candidate in Europe for the 33-year-old's signature. A move to Major League Soccer has also been touted and Chicago Fire have taken Inter Miami's option to sign him on a discovery list, which means no other US club can sign him without paying a fee to the Fire.

Owner Joe Mansueto is reported to have pitched to De Bruyne and is keen to offer the move to MLS as an avenue to helping him to post-playing career in the business world. De Bruyne has already decided against a move to the Saudi Pro League with his family playing a significant role in any decision.

The midfielder has also been linked to Arsenal and Aston Villa, while Liverpool's Mohamed Salah joked that he would be happy to welcome De Bruyne to Anfield in the summer. "I want to tell him congratulations for your career,” Salah told Sky Sports.

"He’s done a phenomenal job at City, and he was great for the league. I really wish him the best…and we have a space for him!"

The City legend appears to have already chosen not to look at offers from a Premier League rival however. The Etihad club plan to honour De Bruyne with a statue celebrating his career at the club as he follows in the footsteps of Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Mike Summerbee, Francis Lee and Colin Bell.

De Bruyne has previously expressed his disappointment at not extending his stay at the club however. "I have not had any offer the whole year, they just took a decision," he said in April.

"Obviously, I was a bit surprised but I just have to accept it. Honestly I still think I can perform at this level like I'm showing but I understand clubs have to make decisions.

"Maybe if the team didn't struggle and I came back like I did this year and bedded in like normal then maybe they take another decision. I feel like I still have a lot to give. Obviously I know I'm not 25 any more but I still feel like I can do my job.

"I'm open for anything. I have to look at the whole picture. I'm looking at sporting, family, everything together, what makes the most sense for me and my family.

"I like to play football. I like to compete. That's what I feel so I can't say that I want to quit because I still feel that whenever I'm in training I want to beat the guys. I feel like I'm doing really well and that's why I've also played a lot lately."
