Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt is set to have a new manager once again at the start of next season.
Manchester United confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach on a two-year contract after the sacking of Ruben Amorim in January.
Amorim won 25 of his 63 games in charge of the Red Devils and was brutally sacked by the board, making it the shortest reign of a permanent manager at United since David Moyes was sacked just eight months into his tenure in 2014.
Carrickβs start next season means De Ligt will play under another new manager at the start of the new campaign, adding to the hoard of coaches he has played under since the start of his professional career a decade ago.
The Dutchman has featured under 11 different managers, all coming in different seasons in what is an astonishing and yet somewhat worrying statistic for the defender and anyone who hopes to manage him.
Interestingly, he has been in two sides in Ajax and United which saw Erik ten Hag let go as his compatriot struggled at both clubs whilst the defender operated at the back.
Here is the full list of managers who have failed with De Ligt in the side, as he continues to shake hands with new head coaches at 26 years old:
2016: Peter Bosz | Ajax
οΈ 2017: Marcel Keizer | Ajax
2018: Erik ten Hag | Ajax
2019: Maurizio Sarri | Juventus
2020: Andrea Pirlo | Juventus
2021: Max Allegri | Juventus
2022: Julian Nagelsmann | Bayern
2023: Thomas Tuchel | Bayern
2024: Erik ten Hag | Man United
2025: RΓΊben Amorim | Man United
2026: Michael Carrick | Man United

De Ligt will continue this streak next season as well, cos he won't be playing for Man Utd in 2027-28.

the only reason why De Ligt is so popular is because of his time with CR7 at Juventus! when people were watching the serie A π

Others may see it as bad luck but I'm seeing it as he's a lucky lad cause he gonna use those experiences he learned from these coaches during his own coaching time.
