Eibar smash Granada to finish the year in style

There have been some tough moments over recent weeks for Eibar, but the Basque side have finished 2019 in style by winning 3-0 against Granada on Friday night, earning their third clean sheet in a row after a goalless draw at Athletic Club and a 5-0 win at Logrones in the Copa del Rey in midweek.

Both sides squandered really good close-range opportunities in the opening 10 minutes of this one, with Takashi Inui and Carlos Fernandez unable to connect properly to put their respective sides ahead.

Eibar did go ahead, though, by scoring two goals in the space of five minutes as Sergi Enrich turned in a Gonzalo Escalante cross for his first goal of the season and as Kike Garcia struck a perfect angled finish after breaking the offside trap to receive an Edu Exposito pass.

That lead was maintained into the second half, but Granada started to push and this game was certainly not over.

Substitute Darwin Machis struck the crossbar with a powerful solo effort inside the final 10 minutes, before Alex Martinez also hit the woodwork moments later.

It simply wasn't to be for Granada and Inui even added a third goal for Eibar, collecting the ball at the far side of the penalty area and walloping in a powerful effort from a tight angle to finish the weekend in style for Eibar.
