Ex-AC Milan coach Capello: Modric outclassed De Bruyne; he's been extraordinary

Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello has declared Luka Modric is "dominating" Serie A.

The 40 year-old has been outstanding in the first games for the Rossonero, including in Sunday's win against Napoli.

Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Absolutely. Modric dominates in Serie A, while (Kevin) De Bruyne didn't dominate at San Siro, on the contrary... It seems to me that he struggles to find his position, he wanders around the pitch without giving the impression of feeling comfortable.

"Then of course, a couple of times he makes passes that others wouldn't even imagine. But his impact is very extemporaneous.

"Modric? Incredible. We all took it for granted that he had quality, vision, and personality: these are gifts you don't lose with age. But who would have imagined he was still so extraordinary physically?

"And then, after winning everything in Madrid, Luka is still there, launching himself into tackles and making the extra run to defend the lead. He's a champion, and it seems to me that he feels and thrives on the weight of responsibility of being a leader at AC Milan too."
