Fernando Gago will take his first steps in coaching with Club Atletico Aldosivi in the Argentinian Primera Division.
The former Real Madrid midfielder hung up his boots in 2020 after a string of injuries back in Argentina with Velez Sarsfield.
The 34-year-old also turned out for Boca Juniors, Roma and Valencia during his club career, while earning over 50 caps for Argentina.
Gago will succeed Angel Guillermo Hoyos at Aldosivi, with Diego Cogliandro, Gustavo Gallego, Gaston Maddoni and Roberto Luzzi joining his backroom staff.
Gabriel Heinze had tried to take Gago with him to Atlanta United in MLS but the latter decided to wait for his own chance to arrive.
