Former Roma player Stephan El Shaarawy is looking to make a return to the club, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
El Shaarawy left the Giallorossi for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Greeland Shenhua last summer, and reportedly earns €14m a season in wages.
Roma sold the former Milan forward for a fee believed to be in the region of €16m.
La Gazzetta states that El Shaarawy now wants to return to the Giallorossi, and is willing to massively cut his salary in order to push through the move.
The 28-year-old played in the capital for four seasons, scoring 34 Serie A goals.
El Shaarawy won the Chinese FA Cup in December, winning the two-legged affair against Graziano Pelle’s Shandong Luneng Taishan.

I pray to God for this to happen. El Shaarawy is by far my favourite player and seeing him play in Chinese League just doesn't make me happy. He's way above the standards. Please El Shaarawy come back to Roma where us fans miss you. Dajeee Stephan💛❤️🐺
