Adriano Galliani is ready to return to AC Milan.
After leaving Monza as chief exec, with the club in the process of changing owners, Galliani is being lined up to return to the Rossoneri.
That's according to Il Corriere dello Sport's Franco Ordine, who writes: "From Monday, September 29, Silvio Berlusconi's birthday, a date chosen not by chance, Adriano Galliani will once again be a 'free' man, free in football terms.
"To sever the umbilical cord to which Berlusconi's former right-hand man has always felt romantically tied ('When I was 5, my mother took me to see a Monza game for the first time at the old Sada stadium'), Galliani has declined the invitation to remain at the helm of the Brianza club as president.
"He did so at the height of tormented reflection, probably knowing there was another chapter of his footballing adventure to write. It was AC Milan, which was his daily work and his obsessive passion for a remarkable 31 years, from February 1986 to April 2017. All marked by unparalleled triumphs, 'the most successful club in the world' in the definition dear to Arcore's most frequent visitors.
"It all came together in recent months, as negotiations for the sale of Monza gained momentum on the one hand (another small Fininvest masterpiece: €45 million expected), and on the other, Gerry Cardinale called to arrange a private meeting in the waters of Saint-Tropez.
"That summit, promoted by Zlatan Ibrahimović's diplomatic initiative, gave rise to the idea of completing the operation already started a few weeks earlier with the selection of a sporting director, Igle Tare, and Max Allegri for the bench, that is, a strong injection of competence and experience in Italian football, the deficit highlighted the previous season with the choices first of Fonseca and then of Conceição, with Moncada forced to occupy the sporting director's position."
