Some more details regarding the salary cap that CEO Ivan Gazidis wants to impose at AC Milan have reportedly been revealed.
Given the poor financial health of the club, Elliott Management have set about trying to clean up the balance sheets and in particular the sizeable wage budget they inherited which is littered with bad contracts.
As a result, the idea has been floated in the media which claims that Gazidis could impose a maximum salary per player in order to help slash that particular area of expense.
According to Thursday's edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), the current wage budget comes in at just over €51million net, but will ease in the transfer market next summer.
The highest paid are Gianluigi Donnarumma (€6m net per year, expiring June 2021), Lucas Biglia (€3.5m until June 2020), Alessio Romagnoli (€3.5m until June 2022) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (€3m until June 2020).
The departures of Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura once the season ends are highly likely, while Ibrahimovic is also set to depart at present for what would be a significant saving.
Donnarumma without a renewal (which would have to be on lower wages), will be sold and therefore the wage bill would be further lightened.
Suso's future must also be considered. He earns €3million-a-year and is currently on loan at Sevilla who have an option to buy, meaning his definitive departure could be a boost for the coffers.
Gazidis wants a ceiling of €2.5million net salary per season for each player, an amount that Hakan Calhanoglu currently earns and who faces an uncertain future, given that his contract expires in 2021.

I totally agree with u & especially on the last part of your comment. Me too, will always love Milan as my love story with this club started 34 years ago & it won’t change no matter what. But the big question is if Gazidis will really be able to lift us back with this policy?? Forza Milan 🔴⚫️

As Milan stands now; There’s only 3 ways to become a great club from a shitty one which Milan is... 1, New billionaire owner (well FFP ruined this method) 2, Superstar-Supermarket (Squad full of peak age players example wenger’s arsenal and Bvb 3, Mix Youth and Veterans (atletico Madrid 2008/2012 squad from the days of 20year old Fernando Torres who’s Captain. aguero and Forlan and partnership) I support gazidis Superstar-Supermarket strategy... If that’s the business he knows and can use help us increase our income and stability... I’d go for it even if we would still get trophies but not the important ones like the league and champions league... If Gazidis can help us reach this level again... I’m happy with it even though I don’t like his decision but his decisions seems to work well on the long run so yeah!!! I still love my Milan and that’s all that matters even when they look ugly. Even when they’re not winning... Forza Milano

The funny part is Gazidis himself earns more than 2.5m yearly... and he can’t earn us 3points... I’m a Milan fan till death... I was here before gazidis comes in I’d be here when he’s out... New FFP rules means we have to build from the ground up... even if you have bill gates as your club owner you can’t spend more than you earn... So building with young talents , giving them a platform to shine and going on to greater things will make Milan a Superstar-maker... I hope gazidis achieve this before a new owner

never get the world class players ... back to old style policy, old, free transfers, average player, or young, talented, but after that sold to higher bid.. then no silverware...
