Genoa team manager Marco Rossi has sung the praises of coach Alberto Gilardino.
Gilardino has Genoa establishing themselves in Serie A after their promotion last term.
Rossi told TMW: "We are doing quite well, despite having lost a few points along the way. However, the objective is salvation and we are at a good point, the season is long and the opponents are fierce.
"We will try to do the best we can to stay in Serie A."
On Gilardino, Rossi also said: "A pleasant surprise. I had him as a teammate and now as a coach. He won a very difficult championship, returning to Serie A in the first year is never easy but we did it deservedly. He gave a great push, he is prepared and he is no longer the way he was as a footballer."
