German magazine Der Spiegel has announced that they have won an appeal over a 2017 court ruling that prohibited the publication from publishing articles in regard to Cristiano Ronaldo's taxes.
Following a thorough investigation from 60 journalists and information provided by the Football Leaks, Der Spiegel reported alleged tax frauds conducted by the Juventus forward.
Ronaldo's lawyers took the case to the court, which banned the magazine from publishing articles on that matter as they threatened Der Spiegel with a 250,000 euro fine, should they not comply.
During the process, the lawyers accused the German magazine of using documents that were obtained in an improper manner, without denying the veracity of the reports.
Der Spiegel removed the pieces from their digital edition but appealed against the ruling and two years later have won the trial against the Portuguese superstar.
