Getafe coach Bordalas: I don't want my keeper to give 69 passes like Barca does

Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas has responded to the criticism of his side's style of play by stating that he would not like his team to play like Barcelona.

Frenkie de Jong lamented Los Azulones' game plan in their first-leg win against Ajax in the Europa League, which provoked a lot of debate on social media.

"When we played against Barcelona, their goalkeeper [Marc-Andre ter Stegen] gave 69 passes," Bordalas told Radio MARCA on his 56th birthday.

"I don't want my goalkeeper to give 69 passes, something we wouldn't do well.

"What I want to do is create chances to score."

Due to coronavirus fears, particularly in the Lombardy region in Italy, Getafe are set to play their Europa League last-16 clash against Inter behind closed doors at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez, something Bordalas is not in favour of.

"Inter are a great team and we are not the favourites," he admitted.

"Playing without fans is not pleasant for anyone.

"I think we have more respect for travelling to Milan than fear, and I'm sure the necessary measures will be taken."

Due to the way in which Getafe have defied the odds over the last two seasons, there has been talk that Bordalas may land a bigger job in the near future, although he doesn't want to look too far ahead.

"Now I'm only thinking about Getafe, I don't think about what can happen next season," Bordalas added.

"Nobody knows what the future can bring; I'm not thinking about it, only about Celta [Vigo, Getafe's next opponents]."
