Gianluigi Buffon is setting his sights on a move to Mexico or America despite turning 44 at the end of January - but the legendary goalkeeper admits he'd have already retired if he had won the Champions League.
Buffon, who has plied his trade in professional football for over 25 years, is currently back on Parma's books after heading back to his boyhood club in the summer.
The former Juventus shot-stopper is well and truly in the twilight of his career, yet he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
In fact, Buffon is still keen to play in either Mexico or the United States before calling it a day, as failing to win the Champions League has kept him hungry.
The Parma goalkeeper told TUDN: 'I'd like to play in Mexico or the United States, but I'd already have stopped if I had the Champions League.'
He then added: 'I would like to play in Mexico or the United States.
'These are experiences I would like to try, but we'll see what happens. If you ask me what I'll do in future, the truth is I don't yet know if it'll be as a manager or a coach. Knowing me, what I do want now is to keep improving.
'Not winning the Champions League keeps my competitive spirit alive. Perhaps if I had won the Champions League, I might've already retired, because I would have no more important objectives to reach.'
Buffon started his career with Parma back in 1995, making 220 appearances for the Italian club before moving to Serie A rivals Juventus.
He then spent 17 years with the Turin outfit, winning 10 Scudettos, five Coppa Italias and reaching three Champions League finals.
