Speaking to the Spanish press, Pep Guardiola has said that Kylian Mbappé (24) won’t join European champions Manchester City, alluding to the fact that the France captain has already chosen his next destination.

Mbappé had looked set to remain at Paris Saint-Germain for a further season. That at least was the player’s desire, but having informed the club that he won’t be triggering the one-year extension, PSG now look keen to sell rather than risk losing Mbappé on a free transfer next season.

Publically, Mbappé has reiterated his wish to see out the final year of his contract with Les Parisiens, but a transfer this summer is now looking increasingly likely. Guardiola was asked by the Spanish press whether there was a possibility of Mbappé arriving at the Etihad Stadium. His response was unequivocal.

“No, he won’t join Manchester City. You already know where he wants to go,” he said in an interview transcribed by L’Équipe. Real Madrid are reportedly Mbappé’s preferred destination, despite rejecting the La Liga club in favour of an extended stay at the Parc des Princes last summer.
