HT: Sassuolo 0-1 Torino

Karol Linetty gave Torino the lead in the thick fog at Sassuolo, as the Granata grew into the match at the Mapei Stadium.

It started as a comfortable evening for the Neroverdi, who controlled the ball and looked the biggest threat going forward.

But Sassuolo couldn’t find a way into the box as the thick fog made it a difficult experience for the spectators.

Torino had the biggest chance through Simone Verdi after 10 minutes, when he was played through one-on-one with Consigli, but his attempted dink was blocked by the goalkeeper’s right foot.

Another attempt on half-volley from Meite a few minutes later was again stopped by the Sassuolo goalkeeper.

Sassuolo eventually tested Salvatore Sirigu in the Granata goal, but Domenico Berardi’s effort from far out. It didn’t seem like the fog was disturbing the goalkeepers, but the goal line technology was not in place this evening.

Torino broke the deadlock when Linetty tapped in a Vojvoda cross, as Verdi fell over and the former Sampdoria midfielder could tap in from six yards after 32 minutes.
