Erling Haaland has jetted off to sunny Spain with his new Borussia Dortmund team-mates as the German club head for warm weather training in Marbella.

The highly-sought after youngster ended a hotly contested race for his signature last month after sealing a £17million switch to Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg.

Haaland was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prioritising the 19-year-old as his number one target.

However, as Sportsmail reported on Friday, that deal fell through as United tried to bypass super agent Mino Raiola to secure the youngster's services.

And instead of being in gloomy Manchester, Haaland is off to sweltering Marbella with his new team-mates.

Haaland, Sancho and co are heading for some warm weather training in Spain for an eight day camp including a friendly game against Belgian side Standard Liege.

Lucien Favre will see this trip as a chance to regalvanise his side's season, with the hope that some Vitamin D will get the 30-man squad firing for the rest of the campaign.

Dortmund are currently sat in fourth, seven points behind league leaders RB Leipzig, at the halfway mark of the campaign.

The signing of Haaland is seen as a major coup for Dortmund, with the youngster seen as a star of the future. His departure from Salzburg, added to the sale of Takumi Minamino, means the Austrian side are depleted up front for the rest of the season.

Wolves have been linked with a move for Hwang-hee Chan, although a deal may be tricky to complete given the sales of Haaland and Minamino.
