Former Roma and Tottenham football chief Franco Baldini is back in big time football

Baldini is set to be named technical director of Greek giants Panathinaikos, reports TMW.

Baldini has several years of experience as a Roma manager, having worked there from 1999 to 2005—winning the historic 2001 championship—before returning in 2011 and staying for two years, until his third term from 2016 to 2018.

In addition to the Giallorossi, he boasts important stints as Real Madrid's sporting director in the 2006/2007 season, when he followed Fabio Capello to Spain and then joined him with the England national team from 2007 to 2011 – in the role of assistant manager – and for Tottenham from 2013 to 2015.

In between, he also had a stint as an outside consultant for Olympique Marseille, before remaining in football through his consultancy firm IC20 Ltd., while since 2025 he has been on the board of Justice for Players, a Dutch organisation that aims to support footballers.
