Manchester United's on-loan striker Rasmus Hojlund made a sensational start to life in Napoli after scoring just 14 minutes into his debut on Saturday night.
The Dane, who joined the Red Devils for £72million in 2023, fell out of favour with United boss Ruben Amorim ahead of the summer transfer window and was loaned out to Napoli on deadline day after becoming surplus to requirements.
The deal, which includes a £38m obligation to buy at the end of the season, offers Hojlund the chance to silence his critics after a challenging period at Old Trafford which saw him score just 26 goals in 95 appearances across all competitions.
And the 22-year-old striker wasted no time before impressing Napoli's fans with his finishing, as he netted in the 14th minute of Italian giants' 3-1 victory over Fiorentina.
Kevin De Bruyne, who left Manchester City on a free transfer this summer, opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the sixth minute before Hojlund doubled the lead.
He took his goal with remarkable confidence, breaking the line before shrugging off the defender and coolly slotting the ball into the back of the net off the inside of the post.
The forward then wheeled away in celebration with a beaming smile on his face, delighted to have made his mark in Napoli already.
Hojlund's exit from Manchester United came after the Red Devils invested significantly in attack by luring Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Rasmus Hojlund for a combined £207m this summer.
The Dane, should he continue the scoring touch he displayed on his debut, could become the latest former Man United star to prosper immediately after leaving Old Trafford.
Hojlund's new team-mate Scott McTominay has elevated his status in Naples after becoming one of Antonio Conte's most crucial players at the club, following a superb debut season in which he helped guide the Serie A side to a domestic title.
The Scot left United for £25m back in August 2024, and some reports claim his market value has increased by almost double since joining Napoli.
Antony, who joined Man United for £85m under Erik ten Hag and failed to impress with just 12 goals and five assists from 96 appearances, is another player who benefitted hugely away from the Old Trafford spotlight.
During his short-term loan stint at Real Betis last season, he chalked up 14 goal contributions in just 26 appearances and ended up completing a permanent contract to the Spanish club this summer.

we sell promising players due to lack of confidence in them. Man United are supposed to groom their players and bring the best out of them instead of hurriedly getting rid of them.
Disagree, so we must keep onana. ?

You’re not blind that we have being in the mix of rebuilding and some player that comes in fail drastically. We are the biggest club in the world only a man with high mentality that match the club will make his mark at the club. GGMU🔴

Our club mentality is different from outside. If you can’t be successful here you’re definitely an average meant to be an hero in the eye of fans in other club with their low mentality. GGMU lives on🔴
then you need to change your mindset towards your team because it's your team that is a flop, not players

None of these league are bigger than Epl and you can’t compare the mentality. He’s so average and can’t put up the show in MU, he’s good in Napoli he will be fine there let him enjoy his stats and leave GGMU out of it smh
EPL is bigger YES but that does not Man U is big also

Not because they don’t have confidence, they themself wanted to get the goals. Forget their main duties is to create chance for Striker to take shot. Hojlund & Zirksee or whoever play in the middle - gotta win their own ball from halfway point and go to score. How many time U can do that?
Bruno is one the most selfish player in the club. Garnacho . Dalot. They fail him and he’s right too he couldn’t convert when he was given the ball so he fail himself too. Let him enjoy his stats in average league

Starting to believe that the problem is The Man united not the players...it's just so confusing what the players whom leaves the the club can perform well... while being in the united -sich a great club- they can't even score in a two consecutive games.
Average player performing in average league of coz MU will be the problem dummy. Our club mentality is huge and they couldn’t meet up and they’re leaving our club to perform in average league. When you’re average a player You’re. GGMU🔴

Yes when you can’t perform in the biggest club and seems to perform in some low club and play well then you’re average player for sure. Look at rashford a dead average player thinking he’s world best lol. Man U gave him life even without his awful plays they leave him in the club and thinking the coach is the problem. I can mention how many coach this guy have sack in MU. Now coz Amorim comes in and make a demand and you couldn’t meet up and bench him against city he came out to podcast shit and saying he want a new challenge. He left and come yo you club he couldn’t perform now the board and demanding more from him or else they return him back. When you’re average you’re average. My club mentality is huge and can’t compare to other clubs that’s why player left to perform is small clubs and think they’re world best smh. GGMU🔴

If Napoli is average what is Man U, Napolinis in Champions League and the were the Italian Champions last season whilst Man U were fighting relegation
They won the league doesn’t mean they’re not average in average league get it right. The mentality in a club is different. He find it difficult to get it right here and they toss him out so let him enjoy his ball there. Either you like our doing or not we live on. Watch your back. We are coming GGMU
