The Mirror have reported that a gang of ‘masked raiders’ have committed a burglary at the hotel Lionel Messi is currently staying at in Paris.

After only moving to PSG in August, Messi does not appear to have found a house of his own yet and is instead staying in a hotel, with his suite said to be costing £17,000 a night.

The Mirror stated that thousands of pounds of cash and jewellery are said to have been stolen from four rooms in the hotel, though the report does not suggest Messi had anything stolen from his room.

The robbers are thought to have gained unlawful entry to the property by scaling down the sides of the building from the roof.

A female guest at the hotel, who had a necklace, earnings and money stolen, is reported as having said this:

“To pay a fortune for somewhere fancy and secure and have someone walk in your room is very disturbing.

“The police told us they saw two men with a bag on the roof on CCTV cameras but they could not identify them.

“They said three other robberies were also reported. A Moroccan guy in the next room told me he had his watch stolen.”

Messi bags first PSG goal

On a more light-hearted note, Messi would score his first PSG goal earlier this week.

The Parisians faced off with Manchester City in a Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes.

PSG came away with a 2-0 win and Messi scored this stunning goal.
