Immobile: 'Fans have short memories'

Ciro Immobile has asked the Lazio fans who insulted his family to ‘leave them alone. Some probably have short memories.’

Immobile failed to score in his second successive game yesterday, failing to prevent Lazio from a 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo.

Writing on Instagram after the game, the 29-year-old claimed he and his family had been targeted by Aquile supporters.

“Some probably have short memories, therefore I ask you all to leave my family alone,” he said.

“If you want to write nasty or insulting things, do it to me directly. My family has nothing to do with any of this. Thank you.”

It is not clear whether he was referring to insults made publicly on his Instagram account or privately via direct message.

Despite his recent profligacy, he remains Capocannoniere with 29 goals, one more than nearest challnger Cristiano Ronaldo.
