Lorenzo Insigne clarified he has no intention of leaving Napoli and was “quite upset after seeing how my words were depicted.”

Insigne is on the bench after an injury, but went to the media in order to quiet down some of the controversy that has erupted since his Corriere dello Sport interview on Saturday.

“I never said that I would leave in June,” Insigne clarified to Sky Sport Italia.

“I was just saying that a lot of people thought I hired Mino Raiola because I wanted to leave. I have always said that I am very happy at Napoli and I understand the fans expect more of me.

“I expressed my thoughts, but my words were twisted in the reporting. It hurts to finish second, of course, but we always cause Juventus problems and that makes me and the whole team proud.

“I was quite upset after seeing how the interview and my words were depicted. I have a long contract, there’s no rush and there is no release clause.

“I’m happy at Napoli and hope I can continue to help the team.”
