Inter secured their first Serie A victory in almost a month as second-half strikes from Matteo Politano and Roberto Gagliardini beat SPAL.
Match Events
31' HANDBALL! Lautaro's goal disallowed
SENSATIONAL FINISH! Martinez does so well to take a chipped pass from Asamoah, bring it down, and then lift his second touch around a defender before driving a finish in at the near post with his third. It's an absolutely exceptional goal from the striker, but the referee is having a check with VAR here - Inter's joy might be short-lived!
67'GOAL! Inter 1-0 SPAL (Politano)
OUT OF NOTHING, INTER LEAD! 1-0! It well and truly has come from out of nowhere, as a sudden moment of brilliance from Politano relieves Inter's frustrations! The ball breaks kindly for him following Bonifazi's sliding challenge on Martinez, and Politano turns quickly before guiding a wonderful finish into the bottom corner, leaving Viviano rooted to his spot!
77'GOAL! Inter 2-0 SPAL (Gagliardini)
INTER SURELY HAVE WON IT NOW! 2-0! SPAL are unable to relieve the pressure following a corner and Cedric's mishit shot breaks kindly for Gagliardini, who turns and drives a fierce finish just inside the far post! Excellent from the midfielder, who has not had the best of matches.
Match Report
Matteo Politano and Roberto Gagliardini gave an undermanned Inter a 2-0 home win over SPAL as they closed back to within a point of AC Milan.
The Nerazzurri had a goal disallowed and lost two players to injury before winger Politano and midfielder Gagliardini struck in the space of 10 second-half minutes to lift the mood at San Siro.
Their quickfire goals ended a three-match winless streak in all competitions and reduced the gap to the third-placed Rossoneri ahead of next weekend's derby.
