Legendary Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has shared his view on what should happen with the Serie A season given the current unprecedented situation which has come as a result of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

“At the moment, football, a sport we all love, does not take precedence. I would propose to cancel the 2019/2020 season worldwide and repeat it hopefully next season,” he began an interview with Italian news outlet sportpaper.it.

He then spoke on Coronavirus and what he is doing to keep himself going during the current crisis period.

“I live in Lodi which was the first area hit by it. We try to defeat fear with the knowledge that all together, respectful of the advice we have been given, we can get out the other end of this tunnel.”

Ferri spent 13 years of his 15 year playing career on Inter's books between the years 1981 and 1994 and is well regarded by fans of the club.

The now 56-year-old, who spent the other two years of his career at Sampdoria, made a total of 418 appearances across all competitions for Inter during which time he scored nine goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.

Ferri won three trophies during his time at Inter. His first honour came in the shape of the Serie A title in the 1988/89 season and his other two trophies were the UEFA Cup, which he won in the 1990/91 and 1993/94 seasons.
