Jadon Sancho has reportedly agreed personal terms with Italian champions Napoli as he looks to end his Old Trafford nightmare.
The 25-year-old joined Manchester United for £73million in 2021 and there were high hopes for the star who had excelled at Borussia Dortmund.
But he has scored just nine Premier League goals for the Red Devils and he never recovered from a public spat with Erik Ten Hag, which saw him loaned out to Dortmund last year.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.
A mixed season saw the Blues decline to sign him permanently for £25m, even though that meant they had to pay a £5m penalty to send him back to Manchester.
But now the England international is finally on the verge of leaving United permanently.
While he has agreed personal terms, the deal, which was said to be close to completion, has been stalled after United set their asking price too high.
Ruben Amorim's side have asked for a €25m (£21.3m) transfer fee, which is too much for Napoli, according to Sky Sports Italia.
Sancho is hoping to reinvigorate his career but it appears United are struggling to shift him.
Despite his past success in Germany, Dortmund are not keen on offering him a route out of Manchester.
Last week Dortmund's sporting director Sebastie Kehl ruled out a move.
'Of course, there's always some kind of contact with Jadon because of the long history we share, but at the moment, Jadon is not a topic for us,' he said.
If Sancho were to complete a move to Napoli, he would line up under former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and a host of former Premier League players.
Former United midfielder Scott McTominay was named Serie A player of the season while ex-United striker Romelu Lukaku and Billy Gilmour also starred as Napoli won just their second league title in 35 years.
Conte is looking bolster his squad as the Naples outfit look to retain the league next season and compete in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Last week they officially confirmed the signing of Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne.
Napoli are also reportedly targeting Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez for a summer move and have been linked with Jack Grealish, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Trevoh Chalobah.

United talks too much and do very little. From the coach, Eneos, Glazers we seee a bad group of football administrators. Ten Hag was a better coach than Amorine. He made two seasons with two cups in his name. He was third in general stading in his debut season and gave us a cup. In his second campaign he was 8th and gave us the FA Cup. He took us to Champions League for the two year. ETH wanted Gakpo, Harry Cane, Osimeh, Timber, Rice and many other tested players but United will bring in chaffs on deadline day only to come and digrace us in the pitch. There is no way he could have lost to Tottonham in the Europa last month. It is wrong for a coach to condemn a whole team as 'very bad players.' Instead, he is a very bad coach who could not change a system that was not working (434) and attributing his flaws to all the players. ETH knew how to manage players; the case of Jadon Sancho very glarring. He sponsored him to the Netherlands for special skills acquisition. But Amorine has sidelined the likes of Maino, Rashford, Garnacho and Anthony respectively but the same players have excelled positively under new tutulages elsewhere. The case of MacTommany, Anthony, Wan Bissaka, Rashford and who have you. Carrick, Ten Hag and Ruud van Nestroy are an example of good coaches who have traded at MU. EPL is not for amateurs. His first signing in Dorgu is nothing compared to Rashford, Garnach, McTommany or Maino. No impact so far!!! If Sir Ratclif has no money to change things at MU why did he destop the Saudis? He is not better than the Glazers. We need a positive team to make us proud in a public place when watching United play. Some of us love this team passionately that one can develop high blood amongst peers in a public place. All those players are good, but for inexperienced Hojlund. Andre Onana, Martinez, De Light, Masroui, Dalot, Yoro, and all the academy graduates are all doing fine. How can a coach sideline a good player like Garnacho because he spoke the truth. We must accept meaningful criticism to change for better. Ten Hag is the only coach who proved that United could play collectively well. Giv Amorine even his Gyokeres and whosoever, nothing will chang. We are talking about Premiere League here. It has standards.

what has happened to Sancho i dnt know. He was so good at Dortmund but aftr he moved to PL he is not the same, i can see his body language totally change no flexibility, no Dribbling skills, I'm sure he is a talented guy but no positive response in the pitch.
