Milan give Jose Mauri his first Serie A start since May 2017, while he hasn’t played in the top flight at all for 469 days.
Amid an injury crisis and following his impressive performance in Thursday’s 5-2 Europa League win over Dudelange, Jose Mauri has been picked for the starting XI against Parma today.
Not only is this a chance to impress his former club, who he left as a free agent in 2015 when they went bankrupt, but it is also a very rare Serie A match.
The 22-year-old has not set foot on the pitch in a Serie A fixture since the final 12 minutes of Milan’s trip to Crotone on August 20, 2017 – 469 days ago.
Jose Mauri’s most recent Serie A start was while out on loan with Empoli in their 3-1 victory over Bologna on May 7, 2017.
It is only his 17th competitive appearance in a Milan jersey.
