The 17-year-old American was sent to Bayern Munich on loan from FC Dallas and he believes this might “open some doors" with the German national team.
On 1 February, Justin Che arrived at Bayern Munich on loan from FC Dallas on a contract running until 30 June. Both clubs have been working side-by-side over the years to send young prospects to train in Germany during the Major League Soccer off-season and Che is the latest prospect to tuch down in the Bundesliga.
Open doors with the German national team
The 17-year-old American initially entered a three-week trial period with the FC Bayern U19 squad and during that time he impressed everyone, leading to the extension of his loan until the end of the current season. Che was able to join the German's side's youth set-up due to possessing dual American-German citizenship through his father. .
“I thought I played well in training. I showcased what I can do, my composure on the ball,” he said.
Che grew up in Dallas and has already represented the United States at under-16 level. A fluent German speaker, after impressing the coaches at Bayern the central defender has an eye on perhaps playing for Germany at some stage.
“I'm thinking with me establishing some time here in Germany with Bayern, that might open some doors with the German national team,” the teenager told American Soccer Now. “They'll most likely keep an eye on me. I'm not really set on one national team specifically. I'm not really set on playing for just the US or playing just for Germany. I kind of want to keep my door always open until I get to make the decision at the time.”

What this young man is trying to say is that, if he's good enough, he will get to play for Germany... but if not, well, can always go back to the States
