Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has warned many of the team's stars they face being axed from the club if performances do not improve after visiting the Continassa training centre.

The Binaconeri slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat at Hellas Verona on Saturday, allowing title rivals Inter Milan to return to the Serie A summit following victory in the Milan derby the following day.

Agnelli knows how to be an excellent mental coach and has spoken with Juve's key stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Giorgio Chiellini, Matthijs de Ligt, Gianluigi Buffon and also under pressure boss Maurizio Sarri.

Following Agnelli's training ground address, Buffon attempted to motivate the players most disappointed by the Verona result in the aftermath of his talks with the president.

In June there could be a technical revolution. Miralem Pjanic must find a way to rediscover his best form to take command of the midfield having struggled with his fitness this term.

The president, after listening to Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici, came to the training centre and followed a small part of the session demanding maximum commitment from the squad.

The likes of Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi, Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa, Alex Sandro and Gonzalo Higuain are all players who are at risk of being moved on in the summer.

Juventus are at risk of not winning even a trophy this term, having won the Scudetto for the previous eight years, a failure Agnelli has already stressed to the team he wants to avoid.

The Italian Cup game against Milan on Thursday will measure the psychological state of the players.

It was Nedved and Paratici who yelled at the team but Agnelli's presence served to convey the importance of the meeting - errors will no longer be tolerated.
