Pisa winger Louis Buffon has had an outstanding international week with his Czech Republic U19 team, including a first hat-trick.
Asked about his son's rise, Buffon Snr told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Four or five months ago, he had a one in a hundred chance of becoming a footballer. Now, he only has a 0.5 in a hundred chance.
"Since he hasn't achieved anything yet, he's only played ten minutes in Serie A, and I told him not to read anything about himself. People are rushing things, and that's not good for him.”
Buffon recalled how essential humility had been in his own career, emphasising that he tries to instill the same philosophy in his son.
"When I was playing and the first accolades started pouring in, my parents reminded me that about ten members of my family had already worn the jerseys of various national teams in Italy, so I wasn't doing anything exceptional. That helped me a lot."

I like Buffon's approach.
