Juventus lose appeal to have 2005-06 Serie A title revoked from Inter

Juventus have lost their appeal to have the 2005-06 Serie A title revoked from Inter and handed back to them after the Calciopoli scandal.

The Bianconeri had two titles revoked in the scandal in the summer of 2006, but as the first was in 2004-05 and left unassigned, the 2005-06 edition was instead given to Inter.

The Nerazzurri finished third that year behind Juve and Milan, but were the highest-rated club after points were docked for the scandal of trying to influence or pressure the choice of referees.

Juve had lodged an appeal to have the case reopened, taking on the FIGC and Inter, but the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) ruled this evening that the appeal was inadmissible.

This confirms the original attempt to appeal, which was ruled inadmissible in 2011 by the TNAS, despite the emergence of new evidence.

New wiretaps were discovered many years later that had Inter involved in not dissimilar behaviour to Juventus, but the statute of limitations had already passed and action could not be taken.

Juventus continue to count the 2004-05 and 2005-06 Serie A titles as theirs on merchandise and even the walls of the Juventus Stadium.
