Juventus have put EIGHT players up for sale as the Serie A giants prepare to usher in a new era under Thiago Motta.

Motta has taken charge after a disappointing campaign which saw Juventus finish third in the league - 23 points behind eventual champions Inter Milan - and the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is ringing the changes.

According to reports in Italy, Motta has informed eight first-teamers that they are free to leave the club this summer. Federico Chiesa is the most high-profile star Juventus are ready to axe and he has already been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Former Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, ex-Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo and former Leeds midfielder Weston McKennie are also said to be up for sale. Daniele Rugani, Mattia De Sciglio, Filip Kostic and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia are the others who are free to leave.

"They are out of the project and they have to find new club," Motta confirmed after Juventus' 2-2 draw with Brest in a pre-season friendly. "We are convinced this is the best decision possible. Yes, Chiesa's absence is related to the market.

"This is both for Federico and for the others who remained in Turin, with the exception of Miretti who is injured. We made it clear after speaking with all the lads. We have strong players, accustomed to continuity.

"At this moment the club is looking for solutions elsewhere, they must find them as soon as possible for everyone's sake. We are also convinced that we are preparing well for the season. I reiterate what I said and I will not add anything else on this matter."

Juventus have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing Douglas Luiz, Khephren Thuram, Michele Di Gregorio and Juan Cabal. They have also sold the likes of Enzo Barrenechea, Samuel Iling-Junior and Moise Kean, while Alex Sandro and Adrien Rabiot have been released.

"We have to improve day by day to bring joy to the fans," Motta added, with Juventus having also suffered a 3-0 loss to Nurnberg in pre-season. "It is important to prepare well and improve in the football that we want to see.

"I saw some improvements from the first game, it's a natural growth process. Douglas Luiz came on well, he arrived late in pre-season, but I am happy."
