Juventus is changing: Maurizio Scanavino is stepping down as CEO, and Exor is proposing Damien Comolli as the new CEO. Giorgio Chiellini's exclusion from the Juventus board of directors is a surprise.
It's time for profound changes at the top of Juventus. Three weeks before the shareholders' meeting, on the day it also revealed it was under investigation by UEFA for violating Financial Fair Play, the club released its lists of candidates for the new Board of Directors and officially announced the departure of CEO Maurizio Scanavino, who will step down on November 7th, at the end of his term.
The most significant news concerns the proposal from majority shareholder Exor, which controls 65.4% of the club's capital, to appoint Damien Comolli as the new CEO. The French executive, who arrived in the summer from Toulouse, will thus receive full operational powers in the new Juventus governance.
Corporate shakeup at Juventus: the candidate lists
Exor has submitted a list of nine candidates for the new Board of Directors: Antonio Belloni, Gianluca Ferrero, Guido de Boer, Damien Comolli, Laura Cappiello, Fioranna Vittoria Negri, Kerstin Andrea Lutz, Diva Moriani, and Diego Pistone.
Ferrero, already outgoing president, will be confirmed as chairman of the Board of Directors.
What is surprising, however, is the absence of Giorgio Chiellini, who, according to many sources, had been considered among the favorites to join the board. The former Juventus captain will retain an operational role within the club as Director of Football Strategy, but will not be a member of the Board.
The second list was submitted by Tether Investments, the second largest shareholder with 11.5% of the capital, proposing Francesco Garino and Zachary Lyons. Both are independent candidates and, barring any surprises, one of them will join the new Board of Directors.
Scanavino bids farewell: "Three intense years, but Juve has solid foundations"
With the finalization of the new organizational chart, the Scanavino era officially comes to an end. Scanavino, a key figure in the transition phase that began after the resignation of the previous Board of Directors in 2022, served as a pivotal figure in the club's transition. In a statement, the club thanked the manager for "the work he has carried out with passion and dedication over these years, laying solid foundations for the start of a new phase of growth."
In his farewell message, Scanavino recalled the delicate moment he took over: "Three years ago, I accepted this prestigious role at an extremely critical time for the Club, and one that was not without risks for those who would be responsible for leading it. The objective was clear: to embark on a journey based on economic sustainability and sporting competitiveness. Today, more than ever, I look to the future of Juventus with great confidence: I am certain that there will be other important chapters to be written."
Comolli, Juventus' new strongman
With the appointment of Comolli, a manager with extensive international experience and a strong technical profile, Exor aims to ensure a more direct and modern management of the club, capable of combining financial rigor with a sporting revival. He will become a key figure in coordinating the Juventus 2026 project, which aims to strengthen sustainability and return to top-level competition.
Chiellini, for his part, will continue to represent Juventus in football institutions, continuing his liaison work between the club and Lega Serie A, but without a management role on the board.
New chain of command for Juventus' relaunch
The new structure marks a turning point in Juventus' governance. With Ferrero as president and Comolli in charge of operations, the club concludes a long transition period and prepares for a phase of planning and growth.
The ownership's stated objective is clear: to strengthen the management structure and restore stability to a club that, after challenging years, intends to return to prominence on and off the pitch.
