Karim Benzema teases move into BOXING after retiring as he shares his admiration for Mike Tyson

Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has revealed he is considering a sensational career switch to boxing once his days in football are over.

During a YouTube interview with his kickboxing friend, Fouad Ezbiri, the Frenchman confessed his love for combat sports.

Benzema says his admiration for boxing legend Mike Tyson's 'strength' and 'determination' has fuelled his desire for some time in the ring.

Speaking of his transition to boxing, Benzema said: 'I get a thrill out of combat sports, and I love to train.

'Once my football career is over, why don't I train with you for six months?

'Then, if you think I am ready for a fight, there's no problem as far as I'm concerned. I swear to God, I'm up for it.'

Declaring his admiration for the boxing idol and former heavyweight champion, Benzema said: 'It's his strength. I have always admired his presence, his determination and attitude. Besides, he has come from nowhere.'

As it stands, Benzema's idol is due to return to the ring next month as he takes on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight.

The two boxing veterans - who have a combined age of 105 - will be going head-to-head on September 12.

The hugely anticipated eight-round exhibition bout will take place in California.

Benzema, however, still has a job to do this season before making plans for after football.

After helping Real to win the LaLiga title, the Frenchman will be keen to add to their silverware as Zinedine Zidane's side go for glory in the Champions League.

Manchester City will host Real in the Champions League last-16 second leg on Friday, with Pep Guardiola's side heading into the game with a 2-1 aggregate lead.

In-form Benzema will be looking to add to his impressive goal tally this season, having scored 26 goals and registered 11 assists in 47 games.
