Kylian Mbappe has already told Mauricio Pochettino his best position amid Chelsea transfer plan

There has been plenty of debate over the years on what Kylian Mbappe's best position is – is he a left-winger, a right-wing or striker?

However, there's one issue – his position. In recent years, the Frenchman has predominantly operated as a centre-forward for PSG, while featuring on the left-wing for his country. In fact, under Mauricio Pochettino at Les Parc des Princes, he enjoyed his best return in front of goal as a striker.

In February 2022, Mbappe ended the debate over his 'best position' and insisted that he can play everywhere. In an interview with Amazon Prime, he discussed whether he may be better utilised on the wing if a false-nine – like Lionel Messi – is operated.

"It’s better when Leo is in the middle? Yes, but I’m not the coach. Leo is a player who needs to be on the ball, to feel the game and the match to be involved. I think it’s a good position for him, he’s free, he can move around and take off.

"Me, I can play everywhere. I started in the middle, then on the right and now on the left but I still have a certain freedom in my movements."

If Mbappe was to join Chelsea, Pochettino could experiment with a similar system which sees Christopher Nkunku in the 'Messi role', the Frenchman on the right and Mykhailo Mudryk on the left...
