Kylian Mbappe is the new cover star for FIFA 21

EA Sports have officially unveiled the new cover for FIFA 21, which has Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe front and centre.

The Frenchman joins a long list of stars to have featured on the cover, such as Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and, last year, Eden Hazard.

At just 21, Mbappe has already won the World Cup with France, won four Ligue 1 titles, was named the Golden Boy in 2017, and was named Player of the Year in Ligue 1 last season.

"As our FIFA franchise accelerates towards the next generation of player experience, we know our cover athlete needs to truly embody both the future of our game and the future of football as a whole," said EA Sports vice-president Cam Weber.

"Kylian represents what we're bringing to the experience this year, from his commitment to advancing football culture, to his deep social connections and relentless desire to take his game to the next level.

"We're excited to partner with Kylian in driving the world's game forward."

Mbappe himself expressed his happiness at being on the cover of the popular video game.

"Cover star! Can't wait to play this," he wrote.

"Proud to be the FIFA 21 cover star.

"Dream come true."
