According to the latest report from La Repubblica, Luka Modrić is ready to sign a one-year contract with AC Milan.

Milan are interested in signing Luka Modric with the midfielder soon to be a free agent when he leaves Real Madrid.

The 39-year-old announced his decision to leave the club last month, ending his 14-year stay in the Spanish capital.

The Serie A club are exploring a deal for the Croatia international, who is yet to decide on what his next step will be with other clubs expected to hold significant interest.

Modric played 591 times for Madrid since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, scoring 43 goals and winning 26 trophies. Among those trophies are four La Liga titles, while he helped his side to a record-levelling six Champions League trophies.

Following Madrid’s Champions League victory in 2017-18, as well as his leading role in Croatia’s run to the World Cup final in Russia, Modric won the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first player other than Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi to do so since Kaka in 2007.

Croatia have World Cup Qualifiers against Gibraltar on June 6 and the Czech Republic on June 9.

Real Madrid begin their Club World Cup campaign on June 18 against the Saudi Pro League’s Al Hilal. They also face Mexican side Pachuca on June 22 before concluding their group stage campaign against RB Salzburg on June 26.
