Lazio coach Sarri discusses Como shock: You're asking me to embarrass my players

Como dominated on the day as they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Anastasios Douvikas and Nico Paz.

Sarri remarked afterwards: "Today the battle was unequal, the technical level... it wasn't a physical difference. We struggled. In the first half, all the balls we won back belonged to our opponents.

"It's difficult to emerge unscathed in this type of situation. Hoping this was an off day, due to technical errors and illogical decisions, it was a truly awful match. Against a team we knew was very technical and strong in dribbling. We didn't do anything we set out to do. Always with the ball exposed... they're already technical, so they become even more technical. Disastrous possession."

He also said, "Let's first look at the reality of this team. How many players would I have asked for if I could have made a deal with the transfer market? That's a leading question, and I'll exercise my right not to answer.

"You're putting me in the position of embarrassing my players. We mustn't get lost in so many things. We can be poor, but we can't be docile."

On Como coach Cesc Fabregas, Sarri added: "I found Cesc the same as last year, when Como was very low in the table. I told him last October that Como would finish in the top ten. You could see his influence. Now I think Como plays some of the best football in Italy."
