Lippi expects Conte to end up playing with three forwards at Inter

Marcello Lippi has revealed that he expects Antonio Conte to end up playing with three forwards at Inter.

Conte has begun his reign as Coach of the Nerazzurri with a 3-5-2 formation, but Lippi is tipping Alexis Sanchez and Matteo Politano to be given more prominence later in the season.

“I believe Antonio will end up with three forwards,” the former Juventus and Inter boss told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Why can’t he play a 3-4-3? He’s already done it and it’s possible with Sanchez and Politano.

“Before we can compare Godin, De Vrij and Skriniar to the BBC [Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini], they must win something.

“Sensi’s very good. He has ideas, rhythm, positional sense and builds play.”

The 73-year-old was then asked about the Beneamata’s decision to replace Mauro Icardi with Romelu Lukaku.

“Icardi had to leave. I won’t say any more than that. I really like Lukaku. He has strength, power, humility, simplicity to his play and pace.”
