MARCA Senate: Suarez crushed Real Madrid

AClasico is always a passionate event and MARCA organised their traditional Senate involving a host of leading football experts to take in the game.

At the start of the game, all of the talk was about the missing duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"I don't remember the last Clasico without them," Paco Jemez confessed.

Then the first goal came as Jordi Alba cut back to Philippe Coutinho.

"He waited for the opportune moment," Carlos Capio, MARCA's deputy-editor said.

"Jordi Alba's control was brilliant and then he had the patience to give the pass at the perfect time," ex-Barcelona man Quique Estebaranz agreed.

The game opened up and one man stood out: Luis Suarez.

"He's always a headache for defences," ex-Real Madrid player Ivan Perez explained.

Then, he won a penalty which was awarded by VAR after a tackle on the Uruguayan from Raphael Varane.

"It's clear," all agreed.

At the end of the first half, there was little disagreement either.

"There is no area where Madrid have imposed themselves, Barcelona have much more rhythm and intensity," Orfeo Suarez, sports editor at El Mundo, explained.

The second-half kicked off with a much improved Real Madrid and Marcelo pulled one back.

"He's so good with his weak foot!" exclaimed Juan Jose Maqueda, a former Real Madrid player now turned coach.

Just 25 minutes later, the game was effectively over as Luis Suarez added a third for Barcelona.

"What a goal!" all shouted.

"With the first touch, he's the best finisher in the world," Jemez stated.

After the game, it was not positive for Real Madrid.

"The difference was in the two areas," Maqueda said as he gave his opinion.

"Lopetegui has it very difficult," all nodded in agreement.

"Barcelona have been the worthy winners, Luis Suarez crushed Madrid," Jemez added, sparking further signals of approval.

One player did not have such a positive afternoon though in Gareth Bale.

"He can't be the franchise player," Estebaranz said bluntly.

In all, the experts agreed with the final result.
